Elements of the Great Script

The script is only a blueprint of what the final film will look like. In fact, movies are composed three times during their production: first with the writing of the screenplay, second with the actual production shoot, and third with the editing together of all captured footage. During each of these three stages, the story may be altered so much that the final print may be very different from the original screenplay. Your job as the director is to acquire or create an outstanding script and then continuously improve it in each of the next two stages.
